Let's Eat!

The Rev. Morris Thompson February 01, 2017

In the olden days, mealtime at the Thompson household took precedence over any personal escapade I might otherwise be enjoying. At 6:00 p.m., just as Tom Brokaw was going o the news, we sat down, said grace, and enjoyed a meal prepared by my parents. Mealtime was sacred. It was time set apart from the daily rigors and the time that strengthened our family unit. We talked about our day, our lives, and the funny and sad things that happened while at work or school. I cherished that time.

I also cherish the times I’ve had around the table with you. My first experience with you was at a meal in which you raised thousands of dollars for mission and outreach. I learned a lot about you during that meal. I learned on that day what gracious and special believers you are. It is with these times in mind and the enthusiasm we’ve had each time we gather around the table that the Vestry and I have decided to bring back weekly Wednesday night suppers.

Beginning February 1st, we will offer a full supper, complete with a children’s alternative, every Wednesday night. The cost will be $5/adult, $3/ child, with a maximum of $15/family. The menu will be published weekly in the Thursday News and the Sunday bulletin. To facilitate this endeavor, we are looking for teams to volunteer to cook on Wednesday nights. Your involvement can be as frequent as your team would like. Please contact the once if you’re interested in this meal ministry. Emily and I look forward to spending this holy time with you, our family.
