Our Sunday school is led by an incredible team of teachers who plan exciting lessons each week. Whirl from Sparkhouse and Lesson Plans that Workare the primary sources of these lessons. This time provides engaging activities and learning opportunities for our younger children. Children meet in the Education Building, beginning at 9:30am.
Children ages three and above are encouraged to attend Children's Chapel. Each Sunday, during the 10:30 worship service, children are led out of the church to the Children's Chapel located in the Education Building. This interactive, formational service includes the reading or telling of a story, Prayers of the People and opportunities for children to ask questions, share their thoughts and pray for special needs. The conclusion of Chapel coincides with the announcements in the church service; the children process into the church to join their families for the Holy Eucharist.
The Mediator nursery is located on the first floor of the Education Building next to the playground. The nursery is available on Sundays beginning at 9:00 AM until noon and during special events and services. Our loving and well qualified staff includes Antionette May and Helen Reynolds.
EYC is a program for youth in 6th grade and 12th grade. The mission of EYC is to share the love of Christ with others through our words and actions by welcoming and loving everyone, reaching out to those in need, building friendships, having fun, growing together as a community and developing our life with Christ in a fun and healthy atmosphere. This group enjoys such activities as lock-ins, group games, bowling, Christmas caroling, parties and outreach activities.
Church of the Mediator and St. Paul's Episcopal Church have a combined EYC which alternates meeting between the two churches. EYC meets the last Sunday evening of every month, most often from 5-7pm. This time typically includes games, dinner, and worship, allowing for fun in addition to meaningful spiritual formation.
The Acolytes are an inter-generational ministry. On a typical Sunday, the acolytes serve as crucifers and torchbearers. In these roles, acolytes lead the procession while carrying the parish's processional crosses and torches. The liturgy also includes a procession for the reading of the day's Gospel lesson. For special services and high holy days, acolytes serve as thurifer and banner bearer. The Acolytes are administered by the Vergers who work with the priest and parish staff to develop the schedule of Sunday and special services.
