Each year at the end of October our entire church comes together for one purpose, BBQ. For over 50 years the Mediator has gathered to cook thousands of pounds of the best pulled pork in the region. That Saturday we also host a Freezer/Bake Sale made up of the most delicious homemade cakes, casseroles, soups, cookies and more from our members. This tradition raises tens of thousands of dollars annually to benefit Meridian community missions. Groups that we have helped in the past include Care Lodge, LOVE Kitchen, Hope Village for Children, and Boys and Girls Club.
We are a Neighborhood Church, so supporting our neighbors is essential to the Mediator ministry. We hope to be a hospitibal place for children and youth from around the neighborhood to come, fellowship, and play ball with us! Every week at 4:30 members gather to walk and pick up trash on the streets surrounding the church. We host a bimonthly Friday Neighborhood Movie Night. Not only are we a Voting Precinct location, we open our facilities for local groups such as Parents for Public Schools, Illuminations Center for Dyslexia, Dusty's, the Meridian Architectural Trust, and many others. The SPOT (Special Place for Others to Thrive) is an organization to bring together the fragmented community of special needs families through partnership with local churches, businesses and other local organizations. Our mission is to create a safe place for families to connect, serve and grow in their community. The Mediator hosts the SPOT's monthly board meetings as well as regular parent work gatherings.
Rainbow Connection is a social club for special needs adults 18 and up. Emphasis is placed upon providing a safe meeting environment for members to feel free to socialize with one another without intimidation. This group meets monthly at the church and is organized by our Deacon Steve Owen.
During Advent, Mediator members contribute to Care Lodge Domestic Violence Center. Two Christmas trees are trimmed with the gift suggestions for the women and children spending Christmas at the shelter.
